Radiation Incidents

Missing Source

If you discover that a contained source is missing, notify EHS promptly at 609-258-5294. Once you suspect that a source is missing, it may be reasonable to take a short time to attempt to find it, but do not take more than a few hours to notify EHS. In fact, you must notify EHS by the end of the working day.

Under some circumstances, the University must notify NJDEP when a radioactive source cannot be located. EHS will make the determination whether notification is necessary and will assist you in efforts to find the source.

Overexposure to a Source or Damage to a Source

If you suspect that you have received a significant exposure to a radioactive source or if you think a source has been damaged, contact EHS immediately at 609-258-5294.
