Princeton has finalized a campus policy for the recreational and research use of drones.
The University policy governing the use of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), including drones and model aircraft, can be found at drones.princeton.edu — a new website also providing valuable information on registration, approved campus locations and no-fly zones, permission forms, fact sheets, FAA regulations and much more.
The sUAS policy is the result of a months-long effort by the sUAS Advisory Committee, a sub-committee of the University Environmental Safety and Risk Management (ESRM) Committee. The sUAS group includes representatives from the Dean for Research, Environmental Health and Safety, Audit and Compliance, Public Safety, Procurement Services, Facilities, as well as input from academic and legal departments.
Information on drone policy can also be found in the Health and Safety for the Campus Community section of the EHS website.
