Aug. 13, 2018 Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs in the workplace.Princeton University EHS is a supporting partner of Safe + Sound Week 2018, which takes place August 13-19.The following statement about Safe + Sound Week has been released by Donald Lowe, Assistant Vice President for Facilities Operations at Princeton:Statement From Donald LowePrinceton University’s commitment to workplace safety and health stretches back many years. The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) was founded around the idea of a unified, coordinated safety approach across all University operations—from administration to academics and research. This philosophy has carried forward over the decades to encompass a number of important initiatives to reduce injury and illness, promote innovation and best practices, and minimize environmental impact. Education and innovation remain a core part of Princeton’s commitment to employee health and safety. This is why we are proud to join over 200 organizations and businesses nationwide by participating in Safe + Sound Week, August 13-19, 2018. An initiative of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Safe + Sound Week is an opportunity for employers to raise awareness of the value of safety and health programs through workplace activities and promotional campaigns. As part of Safe + Sound Week, Princeton will be highlighting and rewarding examples of good safety practice. EHS representatives will be fanning out around campus looking to “catch people in the act” of safety. A social media campaign will offer practical tips and examples for improving safety on the job. I encourage all Facilities Operations employees to take the opportunity to learn about and apply workplace safety practices. Contact EHS at 609-258-5294 or [email protected] for information about promoting safety and wellness in your department or office. Yours in Health and Safety, Donald E.
